Leonardo da Vinci day

Val de Loire Travel invites you to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Leonardo da Vinci years in the Loire Valley.

A member of our staff can pick you up anywhere.
Then you will discover the treasure of Loire Valley on a 9-seat comfy minibus.

You will first visit the Manor of Cloux, today called Clos Luce and it is 300 meters away from the Royal Castle in Amboise.
Leonardo da Vinci crossed the Alps on mule back at the age of 64, taking with him his works, including the famous Mona Lisa, after having accepted the invitation of King Francis I in 1516.
Francis I welcomed the genius with these words: “You would be free to think, dream and work there”.

You will have lunch at a restaurant where you can taste and eat some typical French and local dishes and wine.

You will visit Amboise royal castle where you will be able to experience an opportunity to discover the kings’ secrets and the chapel where Leonard de Vinci rests in peace.
Leonardo da Vinci died on May 2, 1519 and was buried at his will at the Saint Florentin Collegiate Church.
His bones were moved to the chapel Saint Hubert, in the courtyard of the castle.
The view on the Loire river is breathtaking.

The trip will end with a wine cellar visit and tasting in Vouvray area made by the owner himself.

At the end of this great experience, we will bring you back to the departure place.
